So you get engaged in January and your wedding is in August. Your photographer offered you this amazing engagement shoot, but where and when do you do it? Enjoy this very special Hurricane Sandy edition of Wedding Wednesdays.

Lets start with when. Summer weddings are great because you have great light and beautiful outdoor pictures. We recommend it. But for the engagement shoot why not mix it up. We shot an awesome shoot last week in Long Beach, NY and because no one was around in late October the images were amazing. Good luck finding an empty beach in July.

This concept holds true in many popular locations where we are in the New York area. Another factor is varying your looks. If all your wedding images will have a summer feel, why not mix it up and have a winter wardrobe for your e-shoot.

How about where? Every couple asks us this, even if sometimes they already think they know where they want to do it. Thats the key factor. It is totally up to you, not us. If you want some recommendations of great places we’ve shot, we would be glad to give them. However, nothing will have the feel of the first place you guys met, or the park that you got engaged in. Make it personal and make it special. You dont have to shoot in Central Park. There are few locations that a good photographer can’t make look good.

As a side note we also do amazing love stories where we join a photographer on an engagement shoot and shoot a video all about the story of the two of you meeting. Here is a link to a recent one we shot. Dovra + Barak.
